The short version

What stays on your device

Saved puzzles in progress, your best times, your daily streak, your credit balance, settings (sound, vibration, animations), the pictures you add yourself and the pictures downloaded for offline use. Uninstalling the app deletes this data.

Your own photos

Photos you choose from your phone or take with the camera are cropped and stored only inside the app on your device. They are never uploaded or shared by the app. If you press Share or Set as wallpaper after finishing a puzzle, the finished picture is handed to the app you choose through Android’s share sheet.

Network use

The app connects to the internet to: download new puzzle pictures and their list from the public gallery (hosted on GitHub Pages, dailyapplications.github.io) and a small public settings file; load ads and Google’s consent form; and, only when you use “Find pictures”, search free public-domain picture libraries (Wikimedia Commons, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Denmark and NASA) and download the picture you pick. These services see your IP address like any website. The app works offline with the pictures already on your device.

Permissions

The app asks for no storage, contacts or location permissions. The camera opens through the system camera app only when you choose “Camera”. Photos from the gallery are chosen with Android’s photo picker, which gives the app access only to the picture you select.

The app displays ads through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Depending on your region and choices, Google and its ad partners may use identifiers such as the advertising ID, IP address (and a coarse location derived from it) and device information to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. In regions where the law requires it (for example the EEA, the UK and some US states) the app shows Google’s consent form before ads are requested, and you can change your choice at any time under Settings → Ad privacy choices. If you decline, you can still use the app; the daily free credits continue. Learn more: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

Credits

Credits are a local counter on your device used to unlock bigger puzzles and hints. They have no monetary value, cannot be transferred and are not tied to an account. Clearing app data or reinstalling resets them.

Pictures and licences

All pictures are public domain or CC0, or were drawn for this app; credits are listed under Settings → Picture credits. If you believe a picture should not be included, write to dailyapplications@gmail.com and it will be removed from the gallery.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by your country). The cartoon pictures are suitable for all ages, but ads are shown through standard AdMob settings.

Your rights

Because the developer does not hold your personal data, there is normally nothing to access or delete. For data processed by Google, use Google’s own tools (for example Ads Settings: https://myadcenter.google.com) and the ad privacy choices inside the app. If you have questions, contact dailyapplications@gmail.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address.
